Exciting news! The new Brightline West High-Speed Rail project has just broken ground and is ready to connect Las Vegas to Southern California for a more efficient railroad system. This news was announced on April 22, 2024, and here at Rebuild SoCal, we couldn’t be more excited. This project will create thousands of jobs and opportunities for union workers. This project will be the first high-speed rail system connecting Las Vegas to Southern California. The new 218-mile system will be constructed in the middle of I-15 and is based on Brightline’s vision to connect cities that are too short to fly to and too long to drive to. This project was recently awarded $3 billion in funding from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. The rest of the project will be privately funded, totaling $3.5 billion, through private activity bonds from USDOT.

Rebuild SoCal is thrilled that the construction for this project has officially begun as this transformative project will create thousands of good-paying jobs for union workers, boost economic opportunity, ease traffic congestion, and create less pollution in the air. This is a huge step in the right direction for infrastructure in Southern California.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey towards a more connected future.
