Mayor Bass Signs Executive Directive to Improve LA’s Infrastructure

Rebuild SoCal Partnership is thrilled Mayor Karen Bass signed an executive directive aimed at transforming our city’s infrastructure and enhancing the delivery of essential services, a major milestone for Los Angeles! The initiative will prioritize repairing streets, cleaning parks, and executing key infrastructure projects to benefit Angelenos for years to come.

This executive directive will create a path for delivering much-needed improvements to our streets, parks, and public spaces in communities throughout Los Angeles,” said Mayor Karen Bass in the recent announcement. “I am directing the establishment of a multi-year investment plan to coordinate improvements and maintenance of our city’s infrastructure on display when we welcome the world for upcoming major international events while leaving lasting benefits for decades to come.”

Mayor Bass’ directive reinforces Los Angeles’s commitment to improving public spaces and establishes the first-ever comprehensive long-term investment plan for the City. By improving coordination among city departments, projects will be completed more efficiently and cost-effectively, aligning with the goals of Measure HLA. In advance of several large-scale events, including the 2026 World Cup Games and the 2028 Olympics, the Mayor’s forward-thinking approach will ensure that LA’s infrastructure is ready and that our city intentionally meets growing capital infrastructure needs.

As part of the directive, mayoral staff and relevant departments will also establish a Capital Planning Steering Committee designed to consolidate and streamline cross-departmental efforts. The Committee will support improvements to roadway safety, parks and green spaces, and vital infrastructure, including bridges and stormwater systems.

Rebuild SoCal applauds Mayor Bass, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, and other City Council leaders for their leadership and commitment to infrastructure improvement, a core issue for Rebuild. We look forward to the positive changes that will enhance our city’s multimodal transportation systems and infrastructure, benefiting the region and supporting working families!
