New California Budget Deal Prioritizes Infrastructure

On June 26th, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom, Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins, and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon announced that they have reached an agreement on the infrastructure package and the 2023-24 state budget. On May 19th, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom presented an infrastructure package to a group of state legislators and signed an executive order aimed at speeding up critical infrastructure projects. The budget deal includes a $310 billion spending plan that they say protects core programs and covers a $30 billion-plus deficit without dipping into key reserves. The new fiscal year begins on July 1st, 2023.

How will the 2023-24 state budget help investment in infrastructure? In short, bringing projects online faster than they have in previous years so that we can build more faster!
